The ship came in for a hot landing, which is not too unusual in these parts. What was unusual were the bullet holes: the exits were on the hull, which means somebody must have been shooting from inside. And then the fire started, and with the smoke and the screams it was hard to tell who was who. Not that it mattered much, in the end. To be honest, I'm not even sure who I am anymore. I don't intend to stick around long enough to find out.
Under the Skin is a one-shot adventure for the Mothership sci-fi horror RPG system. Affectionately inspired by the 1982 cult classic film The Thing, it presents an urgent mission with a hideous twist: any character, including the PCs, may be the monster in disguise without even realizing it themselves. Have some replacement character sheets ready, because life is cheap and trust is costly out here on the Rim.
Keep your eyes open for:
- The labyrinthine city of Rizzo's Rest, soon to be nothing more than corpses and ash.
- The flesh-molding Monster, who preys on isolated victims and split parties.
- 8 NPCs with fully-detailed character sheets to be used as replacement PCs once they start dying.
- The Pelican, a dilapidated shuttle that might be the only exit off this doomed planet -- and the entry to a life as interstellar outlaws.
- The OMEN System, a method to secretly track who the Monster is and how likely it is to be an unwitting Player Character.
- Helmut, Rizzo's Rest's unofficial guard dog. Unflaggingly loyal, beloved by all, and very eager to investigate.
