One of the most exciting and fruitful aspects of adventuring in Cohors Cthulhu is the experience of leaping back in time to an ancient age when the world was a very large, substantially unexplored, crudely mapped, and keenly perilous place. As a gamemaster (GM), you have countless ways to improvise dynamic and intriguing or terrifying encounters if the PCs step off the beaten path and begin exploring.
This Hexploration Guide features a detailed system for hexploration, in which you and your players can randomly generate a map of an area and experience it on the fly. It also includes a dynamic process for generating random encounters throughout the Germanic frontier. The number of variables and branching options makes it difficult to get the same result twice, and the encounters include far more than just battles with hostile forces.
Also included is a system for establishing, improving, and expanding settlements and strongholds based on resources found during hexploration.
