The Greek Civil War, 1947-49 is a two-player simulation of that confl ict between the government of Greece and the Greek Communist Party. The Communist player tries to wear down the power of the government and replace it with structures with his own, while the Government player tries to contain and counterattack that threat with the police and the military. The Political Indexes (PI) are crucial in play, with both players maintaining their own score on it. PI is the quantifi cation of the level of support the Greek populace is willing to give to each side as an agent of change and guarantor of security. For the Government player the PI is also a measure of the overall stability of his political regime. PI change constantly during the course of the game, depending on events and who controls various territories. The highest level is 99 and the lowest is 0. If either player's PI reaches zero, the game ends with that player having been defeated. The area map shows Greece divided into regions, along with parts of the adjoining countries to the north (Albania, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria).
