The air in Malifaux can grow heavy with the fears and delusions of madness, spreading to others and growing stronger as it infects more people. If the collective insanity is strong enough, it can coalesce into an entity in its own right. These creatures constantly change shape to reflect the madness around them, mouths and eyes twisting and melting around tangles of limbs and tentacles. Those who survive an encounter with the Madness are never the same, forever attuned to the darkest of emotions in those nearby, and constantly hounded by fear and paranoia.
